Journey

Oporto – Finisterre – Vigo – Santiago de Compostela

EMBARKATION DAY 18/07/2022

The VO70 “Ericsson” was one of the seven boats that departed from Vigo on November 12, 2005 in the first round the world yacht race outside British waters and in which it was the first time that a canting keel was used, capable of reaching a transverse angle of up to 40 degrees.

It is a boat prepared to sail in any sea and wind conditions renovated in 2019 and a great opportunity to experience sailing in a round the world and accompany the other great sailing yachts.

Departing from the port of Porto and arriving at the port of Santiago de Vigo , this crossing consists of approximately 80 nautical miles. You will make an unforgettable voyage across the Atlantic Ocean along the Portuguese coast to Finisterre where the end of the last stage of this maritime Way of Saint James will begin.

This is the last of the 4 stages of the Iacobus Maris.

The Iacobus Maris Route has its roots in the millenary Jacobean tradition, the most powerful cultural and social fact in the history of Galicia and, to a great extent, of Spain and of the whole Europe of Christian tradition. The aims of the Foundation are: To disseminate and promote the Camino de Santiago, through the Traslatio for pilgrims and recreational boating enthusiasts; disseminate and promote the practice of teaching sailing in large sailboats, throughout the Spanish geography, without prejudice to the international arena, focusing on the interrelationship of different cultures and youth.
