VOYAGE DESCRIPTION
We begin our island-hopping adventure in Tenerife, setting sail under the shadow of the majestic Mount Teide—Spain’s highest peak and a natural lighthouse for Atlantic mariners. Before casting off from the historic capital of Santa Cruz or the southern ports, immerse yourself in the archipelago’s seafaring atmosphere and take in the impressive cliffs lining the coast before heading out into the open sea.
From Tenerife, we sail westward across the channel to La Gomera, anchoring near San Sebastián, the historic town from which Christopher Columbus set sail for the New World. Stroll through its history-filled streets or venture into the heart of the island to discover the lush Garajonay National Park, with its ancient laurel forests shrouded in mist.
We continue our course northwest toward La Palma, the “Isla Bonita” (Beautiful Island). During this offshore crossing, keep a sharp lookout over the ocean: the deep Canary waters are an exceptional sanctuary for cetacean watching, where encounters with bottlenose dolphins, short-finned pilot whales, and majestic fin whales are frequent. Take the helm, trim the sails, or assist with sailing maneuvers; when not on duty, relax to the sound of the waves, share stories on deck, or gaze at the incredible clarity of the Canary night sky—one of the best in the world for stargazing.
After rounding the impressive volcanic landscapes of La Palma and its imposing Caldera de Taburiente, we set course back to Tenerife to complete this round-trip journey. The Atlantic return rewards us with the finest views of the archipelago from the sea. After disembarking, consider exploring hiking trails through lunar landscapes, swimming in natural lava pools, or simply relaxing—the perfect finale to an unforgettable voyage aboard a grand tall ship.
WEATHER
In late November and early December, the Canary Islands offer excellent spring-like weather for sailing, with pleasant daytime temperatures between 20°C and 24°C and cool nights between 16°C and 19°C. Sunny days with cloudy intervals and trade winds will predominate, providing steady conditions to enjoy inter-island sailing. A windproof jacket and light warm clothing are recommended for evenings and night watches on deck.

Santa MarÃa Manuela
The Santa Maria Manuela was launched on 10 May 1937 in Lisbon. It is a 67-metre sailing ship. The ship was named after the owner’s wife, Maria Manuela, mother of 16 children. The main function of the Santa Maria Manuela was cod fishing. The Santa Maria Manuela underwent a number of structural changes over the years, from the removal of the masts to the installation of a navigation bridge. In 1993 the ship was considered obsolete, was dismantled and only the steel hull remained. The following year the Santa MarÃa Manuela Foundation was created, a project that united 17 institutions under the same purpose: to recover the ship. The SMM now has unique conditions for sea voyages, events, parties and training at sea. Predominant colour WHITE.
