With us, you will be integrated into the crew immediately and will be able to lend a hand under the guidance of experienced crew members – regardless of your age or previous experience. Experience camaraderie in a whole new way, because the Alex-2 can only sail safely if you work well together. This fascinating form of sailing is definitely an experience you won’t soon forget.

Come on board the Alex-2 for one of the two highlights of our summer cruise programme and sail with us to Iceland! For three weeks, you will be able to enjoy many wonderful sailing experiences between the Baltic Sea and the North Sea, make friends and get to know great destinations in a unique way.

We start our journey in Germany’s northernmost capital, Kiel. After casting off, we first sail under motor through the Kiel Canal. Enjoy the view of the passing landscape during this special passage before the North Sea welcomes us and we set a westerly course. We sail across the North Sea to the Scottish coast and stop here at our intermediate harbour in Edinburgh. For just under a day, you can now explore the medieval old town with its beautiful buildings before it’s time to cast off again.

Now it’s time to head north, as the capital city of Reykjavik in the south-west of Iceland awaits you. After the nautical miles travelled on the Arctic Ocean, you now have the opportunity to explore the breathtaking Icelandic landscape, e.g. the Golden Circle Route or the Reykjanes Peninsula, again with solid ground under your feet. On 20 July, we will be moored in the harbour all day and are planning to offer an excursion that you can book as an optional extra. We are currently still in the planning stage and will be happy to provide you with more detailed information on the excursion planning as soon as we have finalised the offer.

The exact route will be determined by the captain on board and may vary depending on wind and weather conditions.

Catering: Our galley crew will provide you with delicious meals from breakfast to dinner during the trip.

Limited 2-berth cabins are available and can be booked for a 30% surcharge

Vessel

Alexander von Humboldt II

The ALEXANDER von HUMBOLDT II is a three-masted barge operated as a civilian sailing training ship under the German flag. Her home port is Bremerhaven. The ALEX-2, as she is affectionately called by her regular crew, is mainly used for the training of suitable and interested persons – especially young people – on large traditional sailing yachts. This is in keeping with the charitable purpose of the German Sailing Training Foundation (DSST), which manages the boat. Behind the green-hulled boat there are many people of different ages who have voluntarily committed themselves to sailing on this sailboat and would like to encourage others to do the same.
