TRAVEL PROGRAM

Our trips are determined by the wind and weather, but of course, we have plans to which we are committed. We provide each trip with a comfortable and adventurous program, through which Scotland and its distilleries can be explored on foot, by car, or by public transport.

There is a variety of food and drinks on board the Thalassa, known for its excellent cuisine and its exclusive onboard whisky bar. Our onboard chef’s creativity certainly doesn’t stop at the famous captain’s brown beans dinner.

Travel Objectives:

A wonderful discovery journey to the special Scottish islands and their distilleries begins in the picturesque fishing village of Ullapool, where you can visit the Ardnamurchan and Tobermory distilleries. The same applies to Talisker in Skye and Rasaay, located not far from Skye.

Rasaay, located in the Inner Hebrides, is famous for its pipers and the song “Mrs MacLeod of Raasay.” Here, we find the Isle of Raaasay Distillery: every drop of whisky and/or gin is distilled, matured, and bottled on this island with spring water from the Raasay Distillery.

Also on our wish list for this trip is the Harris Distillery in Tarbert (the largest town on the Isle of Harris), where the work of local men and women on this island blends with products from the local nature, resulting in a statured Outer Hebrides whisky.

Through Loch Harport, the boat sails to Carbost, where we find the famous Talisker Distillery. Talisker is the oldest operating distillery on Skye, where world-renowned whiskies, shaped by the sea, are created.

Rum, the island also called nature’s playground, material for university studies and nature agencies. Wild goats and ponies have been present on Rum for centuries. An alternative to Rum during this trip is Mallaig (if weather and wind permit), a fascinating place where we can experience the atmosphere of a functioning fishing port. At the same time, Mallaig’s remote location makes it a great place to relax and take beautiful walks (Mallaig Circuit) with excellent views over the harbor and Loch Nevis.

If possible, the Ardnamurchan Distillery will be visited. With only a few years of existence, the distillery combines a mix of new technology with a strong emphasis on sympathy and respect for the local environment. There is little waste, and the staff at this distillery takes pride in working with the local community.

Thalassa also sails to Tobermory, Isle of Mull, the third-largest island in Scotland. Tobermory is the largest town on the island, located in the northeast and defined by brightly colored houses right on the waterfront and many small shops with a craft character (chocolatier).

The final destination of this trip is Oban. Oban is an accessible place, easy to explore on foot with many small galleries and independent shops to browse.

Wind and weather conditions apply to all parts of this program.
