VOYAGE DESCRIPTION

This voyage directly connects the Azores archipelago (São Miguel) with the island of Madeira (Funchal), completing approximately 550 nautical miles in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. With no intermediate stops, the route is set solely by the wind, the waves, and marine nature itself. It is a route tailored for those looking to disconnect from routine, rush, and crowds to fully surrender to the vastness of the ocean.

WEATHER

The expected weather is pleasant, with daytime highs of 18°C to 24°C and nighttime lows of 15°C to 19°C. Predominantly dry weather, clear or slightly cloudy skies, and excellent visibility throughout the trip are expected, although a brief occasional shower near Madeira cannot be ruled out.

Santa María Manuela

The Santa Maria Manuela was launched on 10 May 1937 in Lisbon. It is a 67-metre sailing ship. The ship was named after the owner’s wife, Maria Manuela, mother of 16 children. The main function of the Santa Maria Manuela was cod fishing. The Santa Maria Manuela underwent a number of structural changes over the years, from the removal of the masts to the installation of a navigation bridge. In 1993 the ship was considered obsolete, was dismantled and only the steel hull remained. The following year the Santa María Manuela Foundation was created, a project that united 17 institutions under the same purpose: to recover the ship. The SMM now has unique conditions for sea voyages, events, parties and training at sea. Predominant colour WHITE.

Sailing on the sailing boats of the Nao Victoria Foundation is a magnificent human, technical and natural experience. You will take part in the sailing watches and experience the camaraderie of people of different ages, cultures and backgrounds, all as fond of the sea and boats as you are. You will learn navigation techniques, manoeuvring, knots and rigging, as well as getting to recognise the main stars and constellations. And all this in a natural environment as different, indomitable and incredibly beautiful as the sea.

A mini adventure full of humanity. My dream since I was a child, to see the sails swell in the wind, with the bow cutting waves up and down. Swallowing the sky, swallowing the sea. I am one of those who never stop, I do not miss even the smallest detail and Nao Victoria and you have filled me. All my nights different, always ecstatic. Captain, crew a 10, volunteers, I have no scale to name your dedication, your courtesy, your bizarreness. Historically well prepared, I now admire even more those heroes who preceded us.
