Toulon (FR) – Calvi (IT) – Génova (IT)
Destination Toulon – Calvi – Génova
Dates 05 May (Embark 16h00) – 10 May (Disembark 10h00)
We begin our Mediterranean adventure in Toulon and sail south to Calvi, Corsica, before heading north to Genoa.
Toulon is nestled around a rocky bay, sheltered by the limestone cliffs of the ‘Faron’, crowned with ancient fortifications. This naturally protected harbor is home to the French naval fleet.
Before you set sail, take time to explore Toulon’s old town, with its typically Mediterranean narrow streets, charming squares, and fountains. The best time to visit is in the morning when the daily market on Cours Lafayette brings a burst of color to the town.
As we depart the Côte d’Azur, you can volunteer to help the crew hoist and set the sails. Steering a 68-meter sailing ship and feeling it respond to the helm is an unforgettable experience. Our crew loves to share their knowledge of sailing and will encourage you to actively participate in sailing the ship.
Knot-tying classes are a great way to learn a new skill while sharing stories with fellow sailors. If the weather permits, you’ll also have the chance to climb the mast or relax on the bowsprit. A sunset drink on deck is the perfect way to end each day.
Approaching Calvi from the Mediterranean, we are treated to a breathtaking view of the city: the towering citadel above the red-tiled rooftops, the arc of forested mountains rising behind, and the picturesque marina dotted with fishing boats and yachts.
After a day of exploring this Corsican gem, we sail north to the grandeur of Genoa with its historic buildings and winding cobbled streets, a city often referred to as the “Gateway to the Côte d’Azur” due to its rich contrasts.
Weather:
The weather in Calvi is usually perfect by May, characterized by pleasant temperatures of up to 20°C in the middle of the day. Evenings may drop to around 14°C so bring an extra layer.

Santa María Manuela
The Santa Maria Manuela was launched on 10 May 1937 in Lisbon. It is a 67-metre sailing ship. The ship was named after the owner’s wife, Maria Manuela, mother of 16 children. The main function of the Santa Maria Manuela was cod fishing. The Santa Maria Manuela underwent a number of structural changes over the years, from the removal of the masts to the installation of a navigation bridge. In 1993 the ship was considered obsolete, was dismantled and only the steel hull remained. The following year the Santa María Manuela Foundation was created, a project that united 17 institutions under the same purpose: to recover the ship. The SMM now has unique conditions for sea voyages, events, parties and training at sea. Predominant colour WHITE.
