Destination       Valencia – Mahón – Cartagena

Dates                   25 April (Embark 16h00) – 30 April (Disembark 10h00)

Join us for a fantastic 5-day voyage aboard the newly renovated historic tall ship Santa Maria Manuela, sailing from Valencia to Mahon and then on to Barcelona, the dynamic capital of Catalonia and host of the 2024 America’s Cup sailing series.

Our Mediterranean adventure begins in Valencia, a city where the old town meets modern architecture. Explore the vibrant streets and indulge in a delicious paella for lunch. Don’t miss the Plaza de la Reina, featuring the Cathedral and Miguelete tower for great views, the UNESCO-listed Silk Exchange, and the impressive Central Market—Europe’s largest fresh produce market.

After soaking in the sights of Valencia, we set sail for Mahon, the capital of Menorca. Here, you can help the crew with the sails and experience the thrill of steering a 68-meter sailing ship. Our crew loves sharing their sailing expertise, encouraging guests to actively participate.

Take knot-tying classes to learn new skills while swapping sailing stories with your shipmates. If the weather permits, enjoy climbing the mast or relaxing on the bowsprit. End your days with a sunset drink on deck.

Mahon offers a delightful mix of history, culture, and beautiful scenery. Stroll through its architectural gems or enjoy a meal at a marina-side restaurant, famous for Menorcan cheese and the local caldereta de langosta, a traditional lobster dish.

We’ll then leave the island behind and head back north to Spain’s Mediterranean coast, where we’ll celebrate our journey with a BBQ party on deck. Share your stories with fellow travelers before exploring the gothic wonders of Barcelona.

Weather:

In mid-April, Valencia and Barcelona start to warm up, with temperatures reaching around 19°C (66°F) in the midday sun. However, it’s a good idea to pack for cooler mornings and evenings.

Vessel

Santa María Manuela

The Santa Maria Manuela was launched on 10 May 1937 in Lisbon. It is a 67-metre sailing ship. The ship was named after the owner’s wife, Maria Manuela, mother of 16 children. The main function of the Santa Maria Manuela was cod fishing. The Santa Maria Manuela underwent a number of structural changes over the years, from the removal of the masts to the installation of a navigation bridge. In 1993 the ship was considered obsolete, was dismantled and only the steel hull remained. The following year the Santa María Manuela Foundation was created, a project that united 17 institutions under the same purpose: to recover the ship. The SMM now has unique conditions for sea voyages, events, parties and training at sea. Predominant colour WHITE.
