ACTIVE SAILING ADVENTURE I EXPLORING THE LAND & SEA
Voyage Details:
- Boarding: Saturday, September 06 at 16:00
- Disembarking: Saturday, September 13
- Route: VIBO MARINA-AEOLIAN ISLANDS-VIBO MARINA
What to Expect:
The volcanic islands of the Tyrrhenian Sea off the north coast of Sicily are characterized by wild, unspoilt nature. They are called the “Aeolian Islands” because, according to Greek legend, the god of the wind, Aeolus, once lived here.
The jewel in the Mediterranean has seven inhabited islands, and each one is different. From lovely green hills to seething craters, you will find a wide variety of unique natural landscapes in a very small space. In 2000 the archipelago of the Aeolian Islands was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Regular volcanic eruptions of the Stromboli offer a true natural spectacle, and the volcanic mountains and Mediterranean landscapes are a true hiking paradise.
The daily program:
We understand that the wind always has the last say. That’s why we don’t sail by a fixed plan or timeline – every day is unique and depends on the circumstances around us. Captain Ron Haynes has sailed all his life and has been the Captain of Florette for the past 25 years in the charter business. He with his family and crew will make sure your stay will be very special and unforgettable.
Depending on the sailing area, weather and location, a daily plan will be made. This will give you the opportunity to see the highlights and still be able to relax and enjoy.
We like to support the locals by using their excursions and enjoying their local foods. To give us more flexibility, we provide usally six meals per week on most voyages which we use best in our daily plans and charge extra if we feel we need more meals on board.
Depending on the wind, weather and season, we plan the perfect daily routine! The shore excursions are made individually or in small groups.
Some island highlights
Stromboli—A Volcanic Wonder
Nicknamed the “Lighthouse of the Mediterranean,” Stromboli is an active volcano that has been erupting for thousands of years, offering a mesmerizing natural fireworks display. As you ascend, the otherworldly volcanic landscapes and surreal rock formations will make you feel like you’ve stepped onto another planet. At the top, safely admire the breathtaking spectacle of glowing lava flows and explosive eruptions against the night sky.
