Achieving this fitness level not only enhances personal safety and enjoyment but also fosters a positive group dynamic, enabling everyone to fully appreciate the breathtaking landscapes and exhilarating experiences each excursion has to offer.
Please note that daily itineraries depend on wind, weather, and volcanic activity. The Captain and guide create the final program, prioritizing safety while ensuring an enjoyable experience for everyone. Each voyage is unique, offering spontaneity and discovery.
Vulcano: The Gran Cratere hike offers breathtaking views with a 4 km round trip. It’s moderately difficult due to steep inclines but rewarding with stunning volcanic landscapes.
Lipari: “The largest island in the archipelago offers a variety of trails and insights into its geology, history, and stunning landscapes. The guide can suggest different options to help the group find the ideal way to explore the island.”
Salina: Climbing Monte Fossa delle Felci is a 10 km round trip. It’s a challenging hike with steep sections, but the views from the highest point in the Aeolian Islands are spectacular.
Panarea:
The punta del corvo hike is 7,6 km long, easy to moderate in difficulty, offering beautiful costal views and and a peaceful journey through Mediterranean flora.
Stromboli: The Sciara del Fuoco trek is moderately difficult, stretching over 7 km. It offers an exhilarating experience with views of the active volcano and the Strombolian activity, especially thrilling at night.
The Aeolian Islands
Known as the Green Islands, Salina was revitalized in the 1970s as an agricultural hub. It features numerous vineyards and is famous for its dessert wine, Malvasia delle Lipari, and its capers, which are considered some of the best in the world. Hikers can trek to the archipelago’s highest peak through beautiful pine and chestnut forests.
When we arrive at Vulcano, the smell of sulfur greets us immediately. Until the 19th century, sulfur and alum were mined just meters from the quay. Today, the harbour is lined with souvenir shops, spas, hotels, and bars, and visitors can indulge in sulfur mud baths. A highlight of this island is the hike to the crater, where you can see the yellow sulfur fumaroles.
Stromboli has served as a navigational point for seafarers since ancient times, particularly at night due to its frequent eruptions. The volcano erupts every 15 to 20 minutes, and depending on the magma levels in the chimney, lava fountains can soar several hundred meters above the crater rim.
